About Us

The Salvation Army in Kamloops first opened its doors in 1915. Over the years the buildings and services provided have changed but our goal has remained the same. We exist to respond to the needs of our community, offering practical assistance and consistent outreach while building lasting relationships. Together we work to create a community where everyone is welcome.

What the Community Says...

The community often lets us know how we have impacted their lives. Below are some quotes from people who's lives have been touched by the work we do.

All the staff and volunteers are amazing. ...
The kindness and the empathy and the compassion shown to each individual, is just so unbelievable. To witness it in this day and age is beyond amazing. Just watching everything that they provide for individuals is by far the kindest around.

They actually help you. No money needed for services. They're truly a poor person's friend.

Amazing people with huge hearts. Made me feel extremely welcome while helping me with a hamper. I wish I remember her name, but such a kind heart.

Back to School Event Supports Over 200 Kamloops Children
On August 27, The Salvation Army in Kamloops welcomed hundreds of local families to our annual Back to School event, helping children prepare for a successful start to the school year. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we were able to assist more than 200 children by providing backpacks, school supplies, and financial assistance toward the purchase of new shoes. As families face rising costs, these supports help ease the financial burden and ensure children can head back to class feeling confident, prepared, and ready to learn. The event was about more than just school supplies. Children had the opportunity to enjoy a fun-filled Kid's Zone featuring games and activities, creating a welcoming and exciting atmosphere for families. We also hosted a community BBQ where families could enjoy a meal together while connecting with staff, volunteers, and other community members. We are deeply grateful to our food donors, whose generosity helped make the BBQ a success: Gary's Deli Fresh St. Market Burkholder Bros. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the many organizations and businesses that supported this year's Back to School event: Canadian Tire Interior Academy Sarah's Independent McDonald's NRI Mills Office Supplies Sport Chek Walmart Costco Aberdeen Mall Michaels United Way BC Their contributions helped ensure that hundreds of local children received the resources they need to start the school year on the right foot. Finally, we want to express our heartfelt thanks to our dedicated staff and volunteers. Their countless hours of planning, organizing, setting up, serving families, and creating a positive experience made this event possible. Their commitment to helping others is at the heart of everything we do. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of children and families throughout Kamloops. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this year's Back to School event. Your support is helping local students begin the school year with hope, confidence, and the tools they need to succeed. Three adults at a Salvation Army installation
News Jul 13, 2026
Welcome Captains Francisco & Eva Galvez!
This past Sunday we had the privilege of welcoming our new Corps Officers, Captains Francisco & Eva Galvez, to our church here in Kamloops. We also had the honour of welcoming our new Area Commander, Major Danny Pinksen, who performed the installation of our new Corps Officers. Captains Francisco and Eva brought a beautiful message with the title "One Body, One Mission, One Lord", making a commitment to our congregation and community to follow Jesus, preach His word, love us sincerely, and to seek God's direction faithfully. We ended our service with our monthly fellowship and a special cake to mark the occasion. To see more photos from Sunday, click the link below to head to our Facebook page.
