Whether working at the Community Service Centre behind the scenes, for the Meal Programs, the Thrift Store, or standing a Kettle during the Christmas season, you can be sure that your efforts go directly toward helping people in need and being a transforming influence in our community. We can place you or your team in just the right volunteer spot!

 

Thrift Store

Our Thrift Store is one of our main sources of funding for many of our programs and services!  If you have some spare time and would like to make a tangible change in our community, please apply to volunteer at our Thrift Store.  Shifts are available Monday through Saturday from 9:00 am – 4:30 pm to help:

  • Sort and process donations
  • Price items for sale
  • Help customers find items
  • Sell our many different items such as clothing, housewares, furniture, and books.

 

Children’s Ministries

Every Friday Night, The Salvation Army runs an evening program called Family Fun Night for parents and their children in our community. We need volunteer support between 4:15-7:15 pm to help with:

  • Set-Up
  • Dinner Service
  • Games
  • Clean-up

 

Community Response Unit – Mobile Kitchen and Street Ministry

  • Team members 5:45 – 7:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays (helping serve food from our mobile kitchen)Making and/or serving meals in the community
  • Driver  5:15 – 7:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays (retrieves food/mobile kitchen, sets up on location, serves food, returns truck to storage unit at end of night)

 

Community and Family Services

Supporting families in Kamloops, Supporting Salvation Army staff delivering programs, Making connections with people in your community

  • Hampers (supervise our shopping model)
  • Bag down products (sugar, flour, coffee, jam/peanut butter, etc.)

 

Wednesday Meal Program

Wednesday Nights from 5:00-6:30 pm

  • Food Preparation
  • Serving
  • Clean Up

 

 

Christmas Kettle Campaign

Starting November 16th, The Salvation Army Kettle Campaign will be starting!  This campaign is one of the most important times at The Salvation Army, as it determines our potential to help the community throughout the year.  If you would like to volunteer to be a Bell Ringer this holiday season, please contact Christine at salvationarmykamloops@gmail.com.
