The Salvation Army is hosting three amazing BRAVE events to celebrate the strength of being a girl. These uplifting celebrations happen simultaneously on Saturday February 29, 2020 from 3 -7 p.m. in three cities: Kamloops, Vancouver, and Victoria.

What is BRAVE? BRAVE is a 1-day catalytic event to remind girls they are valuable and worth being celebrated while encouraging them to dream big for what their futures can be.

Who is BRAVE for? BRAVE is for girls ages 12-18 in vulnerable/ at risk/ situations like: foster care, homelessness and youth probation.

What will happen at BRAVE? The BRAVE events will include things like: great music, encouraging speakers, confidence building activities, optional arts and crafts, resource booths, optional personal pampering, dancing, drumming, dinner, snacks, meeting others and more. Girls can expect to leave feeling brave and empowered with a BRAVE t-shirt, BRAVE tote, BRAVE journal, and gift bag.

The Salvation Army has been serving hot meals on the South Shore of Kamloops for the most vulnerable population for many years. We have been serving a hot meal from our mobile Unit (CRU) on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30-6:30pm.
Because of the recent construction occurring, we are unable to obtain a location downtown, therefore we are forced to re-locate to the North Shore. Please find attached a poster that the city has developed to help support us in our transition. We are going to continue serving at 517 Tranquille Road – in the parking lot right beside our Thrift Store where the IDA Drug Store is located. The days and times will remain the same, I have attached a poster for you all that has a map and the announcement.
After the construction is done in a few years we may look at re-locating back to the South Shore if there is a suitable spot for us. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Tracey Tacker at 250-554-1611.

During this Volunteer Appreciation Week, we want to say a special thank you to the over 700 people who graciously volunteer their time, passion and skills with The Salvation Army Kamloops. Over 9885 hours of service were provided last year to help The Salvation Army feed, clothe and empower those in need.

Volunteers drive our organization’s mission to give support and hope to vulnerable people of Kamloops and surrounding areas. It’s a priceless gift that so many choose to volunteer in this way.

Thank you to all of our volunteers for their sacrificial service, for showing compassion and love, and for Giving Hope Today.

Meet, mingle and share yarns with The Salvation Army knitters! Come to a Knitters Meetup and have fun every Friday from 1 – 3 pm at 344 Poplar Street. The ladies are making tuques, mittens and scarves for children in need.

Major Paul Trickett will be leading a bible study entitled: Before Amen by Max Lucado. It is a family christian book for very good reason – it’s an excellent, light read that really gets you thinking about your prayer life. Lucado reaffirms what the scripture says about prayer and how we are to cast all of our cares on God through those prayers with relatable stories in his own life.

Every Wednesday at 6pm starting February 6th for 4 weeks.

Alpha is a series of 12 interactive sessions exploring the basics of the Christian faith. Each session is designed to create conversation, and takes place over a shared meal/dessert. There’s no pressure, no follow-up and no charge; it’s just an open, informal, and honest space to explore and discuss life’s big questions together.

Starts Saturday February 16th, 2019 @4:30.

Please register for the course by  leaving a message at (250) 554-1611 ext. 206 and we will follow up with you.
